2nd Annual Springfield Earth Day Celebration!

 

SPRINGFIELD EARTH DAY CELEBRATION!

Saturday April 22nd 11-5pm at Mason Square Park

 

We are building on last year's successful Earth Day Celebration to continue exploring the theme of what it means to cultivate a just and sustainable economy, environment and community! You can view the list of activities and the official flier below!

 

In addition to music, vendors & Crave Food Truck, Activities include:

  • Hula Hooping led by Jumping Jack Hoops Cooperative
  • Planting project provided by Northeast Organic Farming Association (NOFA)
  • A free raffle
  • A reusable bag workshop led by The Bagshare Project
  • Flower pot painting provided by Neighbor to Neighbor
  • A walking tour of Indian Orchard
  • Wildflower seed ball making provided by Wellspring Cooperative
  • A Thing Swap: Bring household items and things you no longer need to leave and perhaps take home something new!
  • A Local Walking Tour
    Within walking distance of the Earth Day Festival there is a rich and varied concentration of neighborhood projects and organizations that are dedicated to supporting a thriving IO. This walking tour will take us past:
    • the IO Mills for arts & industry
    • the Titanic Museum
    • the Community Survival Center
    • Wellspring Harvest, a worker owned hydroponic greenhouse
    • Go Fresh Mobile Market
    • 16 acres of vacant land owned by the City -
    • the IO Fire Station that is being redeveloped as a a community center and cooperative support hub
    • two congregations that are members of Grow IO
    • IO Library

We will have a short program starting at 1pm featuring organizing groups discussing their work and vision for a just and sustainable economy, environment & community!
