On June 3 The Springfield Community Resources, the Indian Orchard Citizens Council and Wellspring Cooperative led a Wellness skill share mutual aid for the people of the Indian Orchard community. Community members received a group Reiki session and engaged in a humming activity to bring calmness to the mind. They were taught how to take these wellness tools and incorporate them into their own lives.
As a result of the skillshare, a community member volunteered to teach gardening and grow your own food class for the community in July.
The Springfield Community Resources led by Zaida Govan and Ernesto, aims to bring awareness about mutual aid to the community so members can support each other in skills they know and share them in these uncertain times. In future meetings, community members will also be taught grant writing skills so they can apply for grants to support their community.
